How do we optain information about You?

We obtain information about Users everytime they are visiting our website. Your browser needs to send a request to a server in order to display our website. This request contains information about, i.e. the browser You use or Your device’s system. Further, like many other websites we use cookies (small text files) which get stored on Your device to analyse the usage of our site.

Which Personal Data do we collect?

When You’re visiting this website, following Personal Data gets collected:

  • Online identifiers, including cookie identifiers and IP addresses
  • Time of server requests
  • Device identifiers like Your operating system or the browser You’re using
  • Your approximate location / region (-> this information is inferred via your IP address after it has been anonymized. Thus we cannot - and also don’t want to - obtain Your exact location)
  • Websites from which You’re referred to our page or links You click on our page

We never use this information to identify single persons but only for anonymous statistical analysis in order to improve our website.

Further, if You contact us via email or similar mediums, we collect Your contact data for answering Your request.

For which purpose do we collect Personal Data?

The Personal Data collected by us is used for the purposes of this website only. We will retain and evaluate information on Your recent visits to our website and how You move around different sections of our website for analytics purposes to understand how people use our website so that we can make it more intuitive and create blog post which fit the interest of our visitors.

Statistics we obtain from these data are for example:

  • Daily visitor count
  • How often specific pages do get visited
  • From which countries and websites visitors do come to our website

Who else does receive the Personal Data we collect?

In order to analyse our website traffic we use Google Analytics, a web analytics service of the Google Inc. (“Google”), as well as Google’s Google Tag Manager.

For this purpose, data like

  • Online Identifiers, including cookie identifiers and anonymized IP addresses
  • Device identifiers like Your operating system or the browser You’re using
  • Websites from which You’re referred to our page or links You click on our page
  • Time of server request

is usually sent to Google’s servers in the USA and stored there.
We added a piece of code to this integration of Google Analytics which anonymizes Your IP address. It works by shortening Users’ IP addresses within member states of the European Union or in other contracting states to the Agreement on the European Economic Area. Only in exceptional cases will the complete IP address be sent to a Google server and shortened within the US.

Google is certified under the Privacy Shield Program and thus guaranties GDPR compliance including appropriate security measures to protect User data. (

How long do we store Personal Data?

We process and store data only as long as they are required by the purpose they have been collected for.


  • Personal Data obtained for the purpose of analytics will be stored for 14 months and either erased or anonymized after that period.

  • Personal Data obtained by contact requests will be retained as long as needed to answer Your requests.

Once the retention period expires, Personal Data shall be deleted. Therefore, the right to access, the right to erasure, the right to rectification and the right to data portability cannot be enforced after expiration of the retention period.

What rights do You have concerning Your Personal Data we collect?

Users may exercise certain rights regarding their Data processed by us or other Data Controller.

In particular, Users have the right to do the following:

  • Withdraw their consent at any time. Users have the right to withdraw consent where they have previously given their consent to the processing of their Personal Data.

  • Verify and seek rectification. Users have the right to verify the accuracy of their Data and ask for it to be updated or corrected.

  • Restrict the processing of their Data. Users have the right, under certain circumstances, to restrict the processing of their Data. In this case, the Data Controller will not process their Data for any purpose other than storing it.

  • Have their Personal Data deleted or otherwise removed. Users have the right, under certain circumstances, to obtain the erasure of their Data from the Data Controller.

  • Receive their Data and have it transferred to another Data Controller. Users have the right to receive their Data in a structured, commonly used and machine readable format and, if technically feasible, to have it transmitted to another controller without any hindrance. This provision is applicable provided that the Data is processed by automated means and that the processing is based on the User’s consent, on a contract which the User is part of or on pre-contractual obligations thereof.

  • Lodge a complaint. Users have the right to bring a claim before their competent data protection authority.

How can You exercise Your rights?

Any requests to exercise User rights can be directed to the Data Controller through the contact details provided at the top of this document. These requests can be exercised free of charge and will be addressed as early as possible and always within one month.
